Discover Massanutten Resort's new look and redesigned website, and see why this winter is the perfect time to explore the mountain.

Massanutten branded story image

Massanutten Resort is entering a new chapter with a refreshed visual identity and redesigned website. As the resort continues to grow, the mountain that inspired it more than 50 years ago remains at the heart of our story.

How It Began

Massanutten Resort's story begins at a kitchen table in McGaheysville in 1968. Looking out the window at Massanutten's distinctive ridgeline, John L. Hopkins began imagining what the mountain could become. Over the next several years, he helped bring together the land and investors to turn that vision into a resort. In 1973, Massanutten welcomed its first skiers.

More than five decades later, that same ridgeline still defines the view. What has grown around it is a 6,000-acre resort where generations of families have learned to ski, spent hot summer days at the Waterpark, and returned to the mountain year after year.

Building Momentum

New experiences continue to take shape across the mountain. The refreshed brand is another step in that evolution and reflects both where the resort started and where it's headed.

Mountain Mayhem, Virginia's first alpine coaster, is already bringing a new kind of adventure to Massanutten. And there's more on the horizon, from a new pickleball complex and plans to expand the ski trails to the ShenandoaH2O hotel and Indoor Waterpark expansion.

A Look for Every Season

Today, Massanutten is a destination for every season, and the new visual identity reflects that growth.

At the heart of the design is a geometric mark inspired by the mountain, movement, and the changing seasons. The colors follow that same idea, shifting from cool winter blues to fresh tones of spring, bright summer colors, and warm golds and ambers of fall. Seasonal icons add another layer, representing the different times of year at Massanutten.

The colors and icons change with the seasons, but the mark remains consistent, tying everything back to the mountain that started it all.

The Same Mountain

A new look doesn't change what makes Massanutten special. The mountain, the familiar traditions, and the people who bring the resort to life are still at the heart of the experience.

That includes Massanutten's employee-owners, who play a part in welcoming guests, caring for the mountain, and making each visit what it is. The new brand builds on that foundation while looking ahead to what's next.

Built for Planning

The new look extends to our website, too. We've redesigned massresort.com around how guests actually plan a getaway, making it easier to browse activities by season, find upcoming events, and choose lodging that fits their stay.

One of the new features is the Adventure Planner. Answer a few questions about your stay, and the planner builds a custom itinerary based on your preferences. It's our way of personalizing your getaway from the start.

You'll also find Massanutten Stories, our new home for articles like this one, with guides, inspiration, and ideas on what to do, where to stay, and how to make the most of your time on the mountain.

Start with Winter

The new website is built to make planning easier, and winter is a great season to put it to use. Here are a few ways to experience the mountain this season:

  • On the Slopes: Discover 23 runs, 83 skiable acres, seven lifts, and night skiing, with a dedicated Learning Area, ski and snowboard lessons, and Theo's Cub Club for kids ages 7–12.
  • Mountain Mayhem: Coast down the mountain from a new perspective on Virginia's first alpine coaster.
  • Snow Tubing: Daytime tubing and glowing Northern Lights Tubing after dark.
  • Indoor Waterpark: Trade snow boots for swimsuits and enjoy waterslides, warm water, and a little tropical fun in the middle of winter.
  • Off the Slopes: Outdoor ice skating, escape rooms, and Topgolf Swing Suites.
  • Stay: Settle into a cozy mountain condo or a hotel room close to the slopes, and make a weekend of it.
