River Adventures
Kayak and Tubing Adventures on the Shenandoah River
Massanutten Adventures, an exclusive partner of Massanutten Resort, offers guided kayak, canoe, and tubing trips down the scenic Shenandoah River.
A Guided Ride Through the Mountains
Set out on a guided trail ride along the base of Massanutten Mountain, where wooded trails open to mountain views and every turn brings a new stretch of scenery. Settle into the saddle, follow the rhythm of the trail, and experience the mountain at a slower pace - through the trees, across the landscape, and away from the usual resort bustle. Trail guides provide instruction before and during the ride and match each guest with an appropriate horse, making the experience welcoming for first-time riders while still delivering a memorable sense of adventure.
Kayak & Canoe
All trips are seasonal and depart daily, rain or shine. Our trip is 7 miles along the scenic Shenandoah River, consisting of mostly flat water and 6-8 Class 1 rapids. Along the way you may see bald eagles, blue herons, ducks and more! This a great trip for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. All trips include transportation from Massanutten Resort to and from the river, safety and river orientation, as well as canoes/kayaks, paddles, and life jackets.
River Tubing
If you are looking for a more relaxing way to experience the Shenandoah River, then our tubing trip is for you! For this short adventure, you'll enjoy floating on the beautiful Shenandoah River for a little over a mile to the Elkton boat landing. All trips include round trip transportation from Massanutten Resort, a safety and orientation briefing, tubes and life jackets which are required.
Know Before You Go
Minimum age for trail rides: 10 years old
Minimum height for trail rides: 4'8" (56 inches)
Each participant must sign a liability release form at check-in.
Maximum weight: 220 pounds. All riders are weighed upon arrival.
Sturdy footwear required. No sandals or clogs permitted.
Helmets are provided and mandatory for all riders.
