Your 7-Day Spring Adventure

Massanutten scenic spring summer scenic overlook hikers blue ridge 21

Spring brings a different kind of adventure to Massanutten, with the mountain, river, and resort activities all offering an exciting way to experience the Shenandoah Valley together. This seven-day itinerary moves between active days outdoors and a few well-earned slower moments, with mountain biking, time on the Shenandoah River, and exploring beyond the resort woven into the week. Use this itinerary as is to plan your getaway, or use it as inspiration to build your own spring adventure.

Your 7 Day Adventure!

Day 1

Arrival + easy on-site activity: Mountain Mayhem Mountain Coaster

Welcome to Massanutten! Once you’ve checked in and settled into your accommodations, start the week with a ride on the Mountain Mayhem Mountain Coaster, an alpine-style coaster that lets you control your speed as you twist and turn your way down the mountain. Take in the spring scenery along the way and get your first taste of adventure on the mountain.

Settle in at Campfire Grill for wood-fired pizza, steaks, burgers, and other hearty favorites. If the spring weather is nice, grab a seat outside by the fire on the deck and enjoy your first evening on the mountain.

Day 2

Full on-site day: Mountain biking + Fishing at Painter’s Pond

Start the morning at the Massanutten Bike Park and spend a few hours exploring the mountain on two wheels. Newer riders can build confidence on more approachable terrain or join a group lesson, while experienced riders can take on lift-served downhill trails and more technical terrain.

Grab lunch on-site, then enjoy a calm afternoon with a little fishing at Painter’s Pond. Cast a few lines with your own poles and fish for trout and other species, or sign up for an afternoon fly-fishing lesson with gear included.

Finish the day at Base Camp with casual mountain fare, drinks, and views of the surrounding mountain. Before calling it a night, check the resort event calendar to see what’s happening during your stay, whether that’s live music, karaoke, comedy, or another seasonal event around the mountain.

Day 3

Regional excursion #1: Shenandoah National Park + Skyline Drive

Spend the day exploring Shenandoah National Park, using Skyline Drive as your route into the spring scenery. Stop at overlooks along the way, then trade the car for the trail and choose a hike that lets you experience the park on foot. Afterward, stop for lunch at a unique spot in nearby Elkton or continue into Harrisonburg for more local dining before returning to Massanutten.

Day 4

On-site recovery day: Fitness & Rec Club + Perfect Break

Start the morning at the Fitness & Rec Club with a dip in the indoor pool, time in the hot tub, or a light workout before easing into the rest of the day.

For the afternoon, settle in at Perfect Break for a round of virtual golf in one of the Topgolf Swing Suites. Order lunch or something to share, enjoy table service and drinks, and keep the competition light after a few bigger outdoor days.

Tonight, pick up something to cook in your condo and enjoy dinner with the spring mountain scenery just outside before settling in for a quieter evening.

Day 5

Regional excursion #2: Canoeing or kayaking on the Shenandoah River

Trade the mountain trails for the Shenandoah River and spend the day exploring the Valley from the water. Paddle a scenic seven-mile stretch with Massanutten Adventures, and be sure to keep an eye out for bald eagles, blue herons, ducks, and other wildlife along the way. The trip is a good fit for beginners and experienced paddlers alike, with transportation from Massanutten, equipment, and a river orientation included.

Afterward, grab a bite in nearby Elkton or continue into Harrisonburg for dinner before making your way back to the mountain.

Day 6

Flexible on-site day: Horseback riding + Golf

Start your final full day with a guided horseback ride through Massanutten’s wooded trails and open mountain scenery. Ride beneath fresh spring greenery, pass through quieter stretches of the resort, and take in the mountain views from the saddle.

Afterward, grab lunch on-site, then spend the afternoon on the greens. Choose between Massanutten’s two 18-hole championship golf courses, Mountain Greens or Woodstone Meadows, and finish the week with a round surrounded by Blue Ridge and spring mountain views.

Tonight, grab dinner on-site, then see what’s happening around the resort. Weekends often bring live music at Base Camp, while karaoke, comedy shows, and other seasonal events give you plenty of ways to enjoy one last night on the mountain.

Day 7

Easy morning + checkout: Short on-site nature walk

Take one last walk along one of Massanutten’s shorter nature trails and enjoy the spring mountain scenery before checking out. If your route takes you through Harrisonburg, stop for brunch or lunch at a local favorite like Magpie Diner or Bella Luna Wood-Fired Pizza and stretch the getaway a little longer before the drive home.
