Spring is an easy season to settle into at Massanutten, with quiet mountain moments balanced by a few favorite ways to explore the Shenandoah Valley. This seven-day itinerary brings together spa time, horseback riding, golf, local wineries and breweries, and relaxed evenings back on the mountain. Use this itinerary as is to plan your getaway, or use it as inspiration to create a spring week that feels like your own.
Arrival + easy on-site activity: Fishing at Painter’s Pond
Welcome to Massanutten! Once you’ve checked in and settled into your accommodations, ease into the week with a quiet afternoon by the water at Painter’s Pond. Cast a few lines together, enjoy the fresh spring scenery, then make your way to Campfire Grill for dinner and a relaxed first night on the mountain.

Full on-site day: The Spa at Massanutten + Perfect Break
Start the morning at The Spa at Massanutten and choose from massages, facials, body treatments, and more, or book a couples massage and enjoy the experience together.
After lunch on-site, spend the afternoon at Perfect Break with a round of virtual golf in one of the Topgolf Swing Suites, along with table service, drinks, and something to share.
Finish the day at Elevations Cocktail Lounge with a signature cocktail and a slower evening together. Be sure to check the resort event calendar to see what’s happening during your stay, whether that’s live music, karaoke, comedy, or another seasonal event around the mountain.
Regional excursion #1: Luray Caverns + Elkton
Spend the day exploring Luray Caverns, a massive underground cave system filled with towering formations, mirrored pools, Dream Lake, the Cathedral, and the Great Stalacpipe Organ. Afterward, grab lunch in Luray, then stop at Elkton Brewing Co. for a local pint on your way back toward Massanutten.
On-site recovery day: Massanutten Select class + horseback riding
Start the morning with a Massanutten Select class and choose an experience that speaks to you, whether that’s yoga, pottery making, canvas painting, a build-your-own terrarium workshop, or a relaxing sound bath.
Grab lunch on-site, then spend the afternoon on a guided horseback ride through Massanutten’s wooded trails and open mountain scenery. With spring greenery filling in around you and views opening up along the way ,it’s a quieter way to take in the mountain and enjoy the spring scenery together.
That night, pick up something to cook in your condo and enjoy dinner together with the spring mountain scenery just outside, then settle in for a game or movie night.
Regional excursion #2: Local wineries, cideries & breweries
Spend the day exploring the Shenandoah Valley’s craft beverage scene at an easy pace. Start at CrossKeys Vineyards, where you can settle in with a tasting and take in the Blue Ridge views, then continue into downtown Harrisonburg for cider at Sage Bird Ciderworks or a craft beer at Pale Fire Brewing Co. Stay downtown for dinner and make an evening of it before heading back to the mountain.
Flexible on-site day: Golf + spring evening on the mountain
Spend your last full morning on one of Massanutten’s two 18-hole championship golf courses, Mountain Greens or Woodstone Meadows. Tee off surrounded by fresh spring scenery and Blue Ridge views, then stop by Bogey’s Snack Bar for a casual bite after your round.
Keep the rest of the afternoon open for another favorite from the week, whether that means a short nature walk, another visit to Painter’s Pond to fish, or some downtime back at your accommodations.
For dinner, revisit a favorite on-site spot from the week, whether that’s Base Camp for casual mountain fare and relaxed mountain views or Campfire Grill for wood-fired favorites and a seat outside by the fire on the deck.
Easy morning + checkout: Short on-site nature walk
Take one last walk along one of Massanutten’s shorter nature trails and enjoy the spring greenery and mountain air before checking out. If your route takes you through Harrisonburg, stop for brunch or lunch at a local favorite like Magpie Diner or Bella Luna Wood-Fired Pizza before starting the drive home.
