Your 3-Day Summer Adventure

Massanutten scenic spring summer waterfall and rocky stream close up 03

For families who like to try something new together, summer on the mountain offers adventure at every turn. Take on new challenges at the Family Adventure Park, spend a day mountain biking and horseback riding, then cool off with one last WaterPark adventure before heading home. It’s the kind of weekend where the kids get to test their courage and the grown-ups get in on the fun too. Use this itinerary as is to plan your getaway, or use it as inspiration to build your own family summer adventure.

Your 3 Day Adventure!

Day 1

Afternoon arrival: Family Adventure Park + Mountain Mayhem Mountain Coaster

Welcome to Massanutten! Once you’ve checked in and settled into your accommodations, jump right into the weekend at the Family Adventure Park. Take on the kids’ ropes course, climbing wall, gem mining, and other challenges together, then add a ride on the nearby Mountain Mayhem Mountain Coaster, an alpine-style coaster that lets you control your speed as you twist and turn your way down the mountain.

Dinner: Campfire Grill

After an active first afternoon, settle in at Campfire Grill for wood-fired pizza, burgers, steaks, and other hearty favorites. Save room for a skillet of s’mores to share, or grab a seat outside by the fire on the deck and enjoy a summer evening on the mountain.

Day 2

Full on-site day: Mountain biking + Horseback Riding

Start the morning at the Massanutten Bike Park. Younger or newer riders can build confidence on beginner-friendly terrain, and group lessons are available for anyone who wants a little guidance before taking on the trails. More experienced riders can explore the lift-served downhill terrain and tackle bigger challenges together.

Grab lunch on-site, then head to Woodstone Meadows Stable for a one-hour guided trail ride around the base of Massanutten Mountain. The gentle, trail-wise horses make it a great option for newer riders, with guides providing instruction before and during the ride. Trail rides are available for riders ages 10 and older and require reservations, so be sure to book ahead. Traveling with younger kids? Stop by the Petting Farm at the stables so they can spend some time with the animals, too.

Evening: Base Camp + Summer Jamboree

Settle in at Base Camp for casual mountain fare after a full day outside, then see what’s happening as part of Massanutten’s Summer Jamboree. Free programming takes place across the resort throughout the season, with everything from outdoor movies and live music to family game nights, pickleball, and other community events included with your stay.

Day 3

Morning before checkout: Waterpark + FlowRider

Finish the weekend with one last splash at Massanutten Waterpark. Make the most of the outdoor slides, wave pool, and other summer attractions, or add a FlowRider lesson for anyone ready to test their balance on the wave before checking out and starting the drive home.
