Your 3-Day Spring Adventure

Massanutten scenic spring summer scenic overlook hikers blue ridge 21

Spring at Massanutten means fresh green foliage, mountain air, and more ways for the family to get outside and enjoy the season together. On this sample three-day itinerary, there’s fun for all ages. Meet some four-legged friends at the petting zoo, hit the slides at our Indoor WaterPark, and see who catches the first fish at Painter’s Pond. Use this itinerary as is to plan your getaway, or use it as inspiration to build your own family adventure.

Your 3 Day Adventure!

Day 1

Afternoon arrival: Petting zoo + on-site play

Welcome to Massanutten! Once you’ve checked in and settled into your accommodations, spend your first afternoon enjoying some easy springtime fun around the resort. Stop by the petting zoo to meet some of the resort’s friendliest four-legged residents, then let the kids burn off a little more energy at one of the on-site parks or play areas before dinner.

Dinner: Campfire Grill

Head to Campfire Grill for a relaxed family dinner with wood-fired pizza, burgers, and other hearty favorites. Try one of the restaurant’s signature dishes, like the skillet-baked cornbread, for the table and settle into your first evening on the mountain.

Day 2

Morning headline activity: Waterpark

Start your full day with a morning at Massanutten Waterpark. Splash through the slides, pools, and family-friendly attractions together, or add a little extra excitement with a FlowRider lesson for anyone ready to try balancing on the wave. When everyone gets hungry, stay right inside the Waterpark for lunch with a sit-down meal at Splash’s, something quick from the Snack Shack, or a sweet stop at Sweetz before heading into the afternoon.

Afternoon: Massanutten Select class

Slow things down with a Massanutten Select class and choose something the family can enjoy together, like canvas painting, suncatcher making, candle making, or another hands-on activity that gives everyone a chance to get creative.

Evening: Live entertainment

Head to Base Camp for dinner and settle in over casual mountain fare in a relaxed setting with views of the surrounding mountain. Afterward, check the resort event calendar to see what’s happening that evening, whether it’s live music, a comedy show, or another family-friendly event around the resort.

Day 3

Morning before checkout: Fishing at Painter’s Pond

Spend your final morning by the water at Painter’s Pond and cast a few lines together while enjoying the spring mountain scenery. After checking out, if your route takes you through Harrisonburg, stop for lunch at a local favorite like Magpie Diner or Bella Luna Wood-Fired Pizza and stretch the getaway just a little longer before the drive home.
